City Rise Basketball Club was established in the early 2000s by a group of friends who decided they could create their own basketball club to compete at the highest level within Basketball Otago.
City Rise Basketball Club
Our history
From the early 2000s to today — building culture and competition in Otago basketball.
Our history
The founding members quickly put out a recruiting call to friends within the basketball scene in Otago to join their new club, the City Rise Bombers. The Bombers proved more than competitive by quickly finding themselves in the grand final in their debut season. Over the coming years the City Rise Bombers established themselves within Dunedin and the club grew accordingly.
In recent history, City Rise has had multiple teams feature in grand finals, with the Bombers qualifying three years in a row at one stage. City Rise has also had the honour, from the club's establishment, of seeing multiple club members achieve higher honours in representing NBL and national teams.
Built on a strong foundation of humble beginnings and an unbeatable culture throughout all members in all teams, City Rise continues to grow and proudly supports all of its members and supporters, on and off the court.
City Rise was officially incorporated in 2019 as City Rise Bombers Basketball Club Incorporated under the Incorporated Societies Act, and reregistered in 2026.
